Your business name is something you might be stuck with for a long time. It should be carefully thought out and a lot of things you may not have considered should be taken into account. Here are a few things that I teach in my Marketing series that might give you some ideas for a better business name;
1. Does it incorporate a descriptive element, unique element and a defining element
- E.g. Blistex Pharmaceuticals Inc.
2. Is it unique to be identifiable to customers , clear and recognizable factors
3. Does it exhibit the right image, professional or otherwise intended

There are many considerations when choosing a name for your new company in Canada
When naming your new business, you have to take into account cultural differences, phonetics, spelling and accents that may affect how your customers find you or relate to your business.
I tell my clients to be very careful when choosing their business name. A good friend of mine told me of his new company name, Dubble Exxpress Go. Anyone would have trouble finding this business in the phone book because the spelling is unusual for those words no matter how bad a speller you may be. Read the rest of this entry

I like to tell my clients to be very careful choosing their business name and I actually do a workshop on the topic. A good friend of mine told me of his new company name, Dubble Exxpress Go. Now anyone would have the devil of a time finding this in the phone book because rightly so the spelling is not usual for those words no matter how disjointed or perhaps inebriated a person may be. My friend, Xerxes, is a lovely guy and the fact that he is from India should not be relevant to his choice of business names but wait – Imagine for a moment Xerxes answering the phone in an excited East Indian accent.
