I want to talk about a group of consultants and for the moment, let’s say I was involved, working with a CEO as a client. It has changed my thoughts on coaching and has me thinking that perhaps a new model for my business needs to be planned.
Imagine a CEO running a large company to the point where he needs help but is reticent, no maybe more worried that his power will be usurped or worse he will lose total control of his company – his baby. Yikes, this sounds like the beginning of another EMyth lecture – not exactly.
Let’s continue with this fictional company because it is a classic. Five new executives at the ‘VP’ level are brought in to take some of the stress off the CEO, give him more time to reflect on steady planned growth, allow him guidance on this planned growth and share his vision to these executives so all are on the right page. Michael Gerber’s EMyth is very clear; systems are needed for a successful business and the CEO must go through the steps of being the technician, the manager and the entrepreneur. Even though he reaches that pinnacle of CEO he still needs to think like the technician and the manager. He needs to be cognizant of how each of the levels interacts with each other in the business and never lose track of how he started the business. I’ve been working with many entrepreneurs over the past few years trying to work out some inherent but typical problems that have brought them to me. Funny but most of them suffer from the “I think I know it all’ syndrome. Most, though, don’t even know what they are missing or what questions to ask if they did. A lot of their problems can be easily addressed and most are systemic.
I’ve tried to provide service to a few of them with mentoring services by the month. Many people have taken my advice and a few have sought to have me acknowledge their issues and agree with them. I figured these client were determined to have me enable them and agree with their methods and agenda. If you just want someone to agree with you don’t waste your money on me!

MP Guarnieri initially wanted to limit the salaries of the CEO’s of Charities in Canada. She also felt that charities needed to be transparent just like the great charities in the US.
MP Albina Guarnieri is a committed Member of Parliament who has been working for Mississauga East—Cooksville for at least two decades. She is the sponsor of this private member’s bill.

An immigrant arrives in Canada with hopes of taking up the existing career they had in their home country. The harsh reality hits home when they find that their credentials don’t count for much in their new home, Canada. Now what?
