Some see me as blunt, others think I ‘m opinionated. I think people feel I’m competent and honest and I think people like me. I’ve been self employed for more than 30 years and have been involved in the community most of them. I don’t suffer fools and am quick to make people as accountable as I am with myself.

Gary BizzoI’ve been running for the Vancity Credit Union’s Board of Directors for the past 5 years. I originally ran because I felt it was a progressive organization under the leadership of legendary Dave Mowat the former CEO. Well I ‘m still running and he’s gone!

It’s tough to hold yourself open to public (sort of) office and I always wonder what makes people seek to put their name and face up for an election. I’ve never had a problem ever since high school running for election. I always felt I could do a good job, often better than others and I wasn’t afraid to be accountable.

I’ve been told in the past I am a Maverick Read the rest of this entry

Support the Bill to Limit Charity CEO Salaries

Folks, I’m not an activist but I am blunt. I don’t suffer fools and I refuse to let inequalities get past me. I wrote a blog about the Charities in Canada paying incredibly exorbitant salaries, and luxurious benefits to the CEO’s of the top ten charities. http://garybizzo.com/?p=574

After my blog post, a very committed MP in Ottawa, The Hon. Albina Guarnieri, P.C., M.P.
Mississauga East-Cooksville, Ontario  initiated a Bill C-470 to limit these salaries. She is facing incredible opposition from the charities funny enough and needs your help! I have been asked to appear as a witness at the Standing Committee in the House of Commons to address my concerns as a private citizen to the arrogance of charities which feel they can ask you for your hard earned money to pay themselves incredible salaries.

Come on folks this is not the way to be a model to the poor, the downtrodden and the ill in our great country. These charities are so arrogant they have even started their own website to fight the bill www.notobillc470.com

Stand-up and send a note of your support to Albina Guarnieri NOW! Read the rest of this entry

Location Intelligence is one of the most powerful tools to help the entrepreneur in setting up a retail operation. You’ve no doubt heard of demographics and maybe even psychographics but there is an art to finding a location and the combination of all 3 is ‘location intelligence’.

Demographics refer to the selected population characteristics as used in marketing or opinion research. Commonly-used demographics include race, age, income, disabilities, mobility, educational, home ownership, employment status, and even location. Read the rest of this entry

The Corrigan Dynasty, lol

Let’s recap BC’s Provincial election and how it relates to Burnaby.

The ruling Liberal party gets another mandate to serve the people of BC. The people of Burnaby now have 20 of 22 elected officials in my city who belong to the opposition.

Kathy (I have vast experience as a School Board Trustee) Corrigan is elected over a hard working John Nuraney. Being the wife of the Mayor of Burnaby has its advantages. Read the rest of this entry

“People of the World, Unite…”

“People of the world, unite and defeat the U.S. aggressors and all their running dogs! People of the world, be courageous, dare to fight, defy difficulties and advance wave upon wave.”
- Chairman Mao

I feel this is the battle cry of Burnaby politics, those of the NDP candidates and their minions running city hall. In Chairman Mao’s quote replace U.S. aggressors with Liberals, the centrist party. Out of 22 elected officials in Burnaby 19 are left wing NDP/Union backed hacks. Good for them you may say, they win elections. Sure but while other candidates raise money for their election campaigns these people have well-oiled special interest unions throwing money at them.

In my previous Blog, ‘Burnaby’s Incestuous Politics” I noted the nepotism of husband being the Mayor and wife running for MLA for the NDP. How about Mondee Redmon, vast experience as a ‘school trustee’ -wow- and one of the in-house folks suffering from big fish-in-a -small pond syndrome.

Living in Burnaby with these politicians makes me feel so alienated at times, cause the rest of the world doesn’t see things the way folks do in Burnaby, maybe I’m a Vancouverite at heart- but wait, isn’t the Mayor of Vancouver a former NDP MLA?
