The Entrepreneur

I hate the word self-employment. It identifies you as a person who is running their own business, correct?

Well I hate the word. It sounds like you have created a ‘job’ for yourself forever destined to be doing it by yourself.

I like the term ‘Entrepreneur’. It sounds so dramatic, mysterious, sophisticated and perhaps unique. It makes us feel like perhaps we may be able to tread in the footsteps of the Donald (Trump) or even have the capability to run an international conglomerate.

Michael Gerber, the famous Business Consultant and writer of the invaluable E-Myth series of books on business made note that in each new entrepreneur there are 3 different mindsets in the operation of the business- the Technician, the Manager and the Entrepreneur. Read the rest of this entry

Stress

A lecturer when explaining stress management to an audience,
Raised a glass of water  and asked
‘How heavy is this glass of water?’

Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g.

The lecturer replied, ‘The absolute weight doesn’t matter.
It depends on how long you try to hold it.

If I  hold it f or a minute, that’s not a problem.

If You Were Born Between 1930 and the ’60′s

I wish I had written this and really don’t know who did but it’s fun!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE KIDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE 1930′s 40′s, 50′s, and 60′s !!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn’t get tested for diabetes.

The Corrigan Dynasty, lol

Let’s recap BC’s Provincial election and how it relates to Burnaby.

The ruling Liberal party gets another mandate to serve the people of BC. The people of Burnaby now have 20 of 22 elected officials in my city who belong to the opposition.

Kathy (I have vast experience as a School Board Trustee) Corrigan is elected over a hard working John Nuraney. Being the wife of the Mayor of Burnaby has its advantages. Read the rest of this entry
