Small Business Month, Some Comments

I was asked by the Editor of a local newspaper to respond to some questions about Entrepreneurs for a Small Business Month editorial. I’ve answered them here.

1. Small businesses, most of which start off with a single employee, make up
a significant number of employers in B.C. Beyond the necessity of running a
business, how and where can entrepreneurs learn to deal with people,
employees and customers, in a fashion beneficial to company growth?

the Intrapreneur

Wikipedia says an Intrapreneur ‘uses entrepreneurial skills such as innovation, persistence, and risk taking while working as an employee of a large company. For example, a company searches for a new leader with entrepreneurial skills to bring major changes to an underperforming division.”

Imagine an employee who comes up with innovative ideas for the company and then uses the resources and assistance of the company to bring the ideas to fruition, all for the benefit for the company? Read the rest of this entry
