Location Intelligence is one of the most powerful tools to help the entrepreneur in setting up a retail operation. You’ve no doubt heard of demographics and maybe even psychographics but there is an art to finding a location and the combination of all 3 is ‘location intelligence’.

Well how many of you saw the Michael Jackson extravaganza? I admit I watched the reruns and like the milieu is fascinated by the whole celebrity thing; the comparisons to Elvis, the foreboding – even the National Enquirer (for enquiring minds) had predicted in print in January 2009 that Michael would be gone within 6 months because of reports of his crazy lifestyle.
This blog is not about Michael Jackson nor Elvis or celebrity. It’s about a real life friend of mine and the life she lead and her death at 92. Phew, yes 92, how many people my age get to have a friend that old and wise. Read the rest of this entry

During the winter months and even into the spring I admit I suffered from vacation envy, one friend was off to Sandals in the Caribbean, another to Mexico for 6 months but my wife and I survived the foot of snow, the near 0 degrees temperatures (yeah it’s tough in Vancouver) and hung out to summer, yeah!
I heard of Staycation last year and fell in love with it. Up to now we used to go camping, commune with nature, lol, go to Florida to my mom’s place or a little side trip here and there. The camping took a wrong turn when on our honeymoon 5 years ago next month we rented a nice 24 foot class C motorhome which had all the amenities. I mean you pull up to a campsite, pull out the toilet hose and plug in your ‘home’, Wahoo! Well our camping days quickly ended. Read the rest of this entry

A nice woman from New Jersey recently sent me an email from Twitter asking me how to enter the Management Consultant business right out of school. I thought I would put my answer to her here.

Whew you ask a lot, lol. I’m not sure I can answer many of your questions. My experience is that a good management consultant needs to have a variety of experience to draw upon in a general way. I guess a good mgmt consultant would have the business/educational credentials, had run several businesses and has a strong desire to pass the knowledge onto others. Read the rest of this entry
